その上で、より活発に日本で音楽ファンを動員することを支援するために的確な範囲の中で彼らの評判を使用することができるかもしれません。

That sounds really interesting. We have a few questions. Or, if there's been any press on this law in English, we'd really like to see it.

-Does this really mean it won't be possible for American independent labels to sell CDs in Japan?

-Does this just apply to record stores, or will it become illegal for people in Japan to mail-order CDs as well?

-How likely is this law to pass?

2. RIAA is hoping for the enactment of that law, for it will lower the royalty to be paid to the artists, and also lower their tax.
-How does this work?

This sounds like a really rough law. Also, we know there are a ton of cool American independent musicians who have pretty large followings in Japan.. this could really suck for them. We'd like to do what we can to help, but your voice counts much more than ours in Japan. Here's an idea that might work: if you identify 10-20 American or British independent musicians who have a large following in Japan, we could try to contact them. You might be able to use their reputation/fame in certain circles to help mobilize music fans in Japan to get more active on this. We're not especially connected here, but most independent label musicians here are pretty accessible. I'm not sure if there are any independent or underground radio stations in Japan, but you could maybe record messages from them and work them into your own messages. You could also use their pictures and quotes from them in flyers.

All of this would have to happen really fast though, if all you have is one month. What do you think?
